About Patrick Internet
Patrick Internet is a family-run web design, hosting, SEO and business technology company founded by Chris and Luke Patrick in 2007.
We work with everyone from sole traders and owner-managed businesses to established companies, large corporate organisations, online retailers and even other web developers who rely on us for hosting and technical support.
Chris & Luke Patrick
Co-founders of Patrick Internet
The technology we work with has changed enormously since 2007. The principle behind Patrick Internet hasn't.
Understand what the client actually needs, solve the problem properly and provide the level of support we'd expect to receive ourselves.
That's how Patrick Internet started, and it's still how we work today.
The beginning - 2007
It started with bad customer service
Patrick Internet exists because we were customers first.
In 2007, Chris and Luke had their own websites hosted by large national hosting companies. When they needed technical support, the experience was well below the standard they believed customers should expect from businesses of that size.
Rather than simply accepting it, they saw an opportunity to do things differently.
Patrick Internet was created to provide web hosting backed by knowledgeable, personal support, where customers could actually get help when they needed it.
We registered patrickinternet.co.uk on 18 February 2007.
Less than two months later, our first customer arrived.

A special thank you to Steve
On 10 April 2007, Steve Levitt registered srlevitt.co.uk and became Patrick Internet's first customer.
More than 19 years later, Steve is still a customer.
And although Steve holds the distinction of being customer number one, long-standing relationships like this aren't unusual for us. Many of the businesses we support today have trusted Patrick Internet for years.
So, Steve, a personal thank you from Chris and Luke for taking a chance on us right at the beginning and for sticking with us ever since.

Our technical heritage
From hosting websites to building them
By around 2014, our hosting business had given us an interesting perspective on web design.
We were spending an increasing amount of time helping customers resolve problems with websites that other people had built.
Some had been created by friends or inexperienced developers. Others had been supplied by professional web designers.
The recurring problem was that something could look perfectly good on the surface while being very different underneath.
We could see the performance problems, poor technical implementation and other issues because we were responsible for the infrastructure those websites were running on.
Too often, businesses had been given something that looked pretty but had no engine.
Customers began asking whether we could fix their websites. Fixing led to rebuilding, and rebuilding eventually developed into a complete professional web design service.
That technical heritage still influences the websites we build today.
We absolutely care how a website looks. But we care just as much about what is underneath it and, ultimately, what it achieves for the business.
Design, development and search
A website should have
a job to do
We became involved in SEO at the same time we began professionally building websites.
It was obvious to us that design, development and search couldn't sensibly be treated as completely separate disciplines.
A technically excellent website without the right content won't achieve everything it could. Great content sitting on a poor technical foundation has the opposite problem.
Successful websites need the two working together, supported by on-page and off-page SEO where appropriate.
Most importantly, we focus on the outcome.
If the purpose of a website is to generate enquiries,
We measure the enquiries. We don't guess.
Because ultimately, success isn't an award, a ranking report or a website that everybody in the office agrees looks nice.
Success is a happy client with a website that's doing its job.
The people behind Patrick Internet
Meet Chris & Luke
Chris Patrick
Technical Director
Chris's background has always been technical.
Before working full-time at Patrick Internet, Chris was Technical Director for a multinational security company headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden.
His work took him around the world, particularly within the high-security banking sector, and included involvement with sophisticated access-control systems used by major financial institutions and international organisations.
Alongside the security technology, Chris developed internal software, intranets and information systems that provided technical managers, surveyors and sales teams with the information and documentation they needed.
That engineering background still defines the way Chris approaches technology today.
He's a problem solver.
The first question isn't simply “How do we fix this?” It's often “Why did this happen?”
Diagnose the underlying problem, understand it, fix it properly and, where possible, prevent it from happening again.
Following restructuring after the acquisition of the company he worked for, Chris took redundancy in around 2014 and joined Patrick Internet full-time, just as the business was developing its professional web design services.
Luke Patrick
Managing Director
Luke is the Managing Director of Patrick Internet, but there's a lot more to him than websites and running a business.
Having grown up alongside Patrick Internet, Luke has seen the business evolve over the years and has been involved in its journey in one way or another for much of his life. After graduating from university with a business degree in 2012, he went on to gain experience across a variety of industries, including the NHS, accountancy and business software consultancy, before bringing that experience back into the family business.
These days, Luke looks after the commercial and operational side of Patrick Internet, but he's equally happy getting stuck into the technical side of things. Working closely with Chris (Dad) over the years has given him a wealth of hands-on experience, and he particularly enjoys the challenge of solving problems, finding better ways of doing things and helping businesses grow.
Outside of work, Luke is first and foremost a very proud family man. His wife and two daughters are his world, and spending quality time with them is what matters most. He's also a big football fan and has recently signed himself up for veterans' football, proving that hanging up his boots isn't quite on the agenda just yet!
For Luke, Patrick Internet has always been about more than simply building websites or providing hosting. It's about building something to be proud of, looking after people and creating a business that customers genuinely enjoy working with.
Businesses we work with
Trusted by businesses of every size
There isn't really a typical Patrick Internet customer.
We support sole traders, small businesses, established SMEs, major online retailers and larger corporate organisations, including businesses operating within the energy sector.
Our clients are located throughout the UK, and we also support customers overseas.
Whatever the size of the organisation, our approach is much the same.
We work closely with the people behind the business, understand what they're trying to accomplish and focus on the outcome rather than simply selling them a product.
Multi award winning web design
Recognised for Web Design and Automation
We're proud that our work has also received independent recognition.
Patrick Internet was named Nationwide Workflow Automation Specialists of the Year in 2022 and 2023 by SME News, following our expansion into business automation.

But they matter to us because they recognise the same work our customers rely on every day.

Still personal after
nearly 20 years
Patrick Internet has changed considerably since Chris and Luke registered the domain in February 2007.
The internet has changed beyond recognition.
The websites are more sophisticated. Hosting technology has evolved. Search engines have changed. WordPress has transformed website publishing. Automation and AI are changing businesses again.
We've changed with them.
What hasn't changed is why Patrick Internet exists.
We started because we believed customers deserved better technical support.
Nearly 20 years later, that's still a pretty good description of what we're here to provide.
